Selection:
The selection will adopt assessment criteria that will take into consideration the goldsmith/artistic quality, the originality and contemporaneity, by accurately assessing, during the registration phase, the photographs of the pieces to be presented.
The agc will have no decisional power, nor will it have any say regarding the applications for participation, the jury coming from outside the association.

Selector:
Helen W. Drutt English began collecting in the 1950s, and helped found the Philadelphia Council of Professional Craftsmen in 1967. In 1973, she became the first to teach the history of modern craft on the college level, and founded the Philadelphia's Helen Drutt Gallery, one of the first committed to crafts. Her jewelry collection belongs to the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

disegni e sculture di Carlo Mo gioielli della figlia Francesca

Venerdì 27 maggio alle ore 17,00, presso il Salone Teresiano della Biblioteca di Pavia, sarà inaugurata la mostra MO+MO, scultura e design a cura di Antonella Campagna e Paola Mo.
Saranno esposti quaranta disegni e studi più una serie di piccole sculture e bozzetti dello scultore Carlo Mo, insieme a una ventina di gioielli d'arte della nota designer Francesca Mo. La mostra resterà aperta fino al 4 di giugno. Orari: da lunedì a venerdì 8.30-18.30 /sabato 8.30-13.30 ingresso libero.

MO + MO è l'antica “arte di bottega” rinascimentale. Esiste uno stretto anzi strettissimo legame tra scultura, pittura e design da sempre. Spesso s'intersecano, anzi, un tempo, il confine era per nulla segnato. Ed è proprio seguendo questo filo che è nata questa mostra. Padre e figlio collaboravano, ognuno nei propri campi, alla realizzazione di oggetto nel tempo della bottega e non della loro vita. Dunque una mostra antica in uno dei luoghi d'incanto d'Italia: il Salone Teresiano custodito, come incastonato, tra le mura di una delle più antiche e prestigiose università.

È una mostra caleidoscopica dove il probabile diviene improbabile e il suo contrario. Microfusioni in acciaio delle grandi sculture di Mo in giro per il mondo vicino a orecchini fatti sabbia già esposti al Poldi Pezzoli. Disegni su carta fatta a mano accanto a pietre riparate con lamine d'oro e omini che vi si arrampicano. Piccolissimi libri che divengono gioielli e cavatappi che sono bozzetti di sculture. Un anello che ti dice “yes or no” e un San Giorgio che uccide il Drago e insieme si trasformano. Un Luna Park dell'arte giocato sul filo dell'equilibrio della forma e della poesia. E, perché no, un dialogo silenzioso tra un padre e una figlia.

Di Giancarlo Montebello gli “anelli OVER” in collaborazione con Matteo Bonafede
Cette exposition se voulait un hommage aux combattants de la Grande Guerre, mais au fil de sa construction elle s'est ouverte à de multiples autres dimensions. Défi s'il en est, il s'agissait d'inviter des créateurs contemporains à réfléchir sur la place et le rôle du bijou dans la Grande Guerre, puis de mettre en miroir leurs propositions et les pratiques d'artisanat de tranchée.

Les créateurs qui ont proposé des pièces sont une vingtaine, ils viennent de Belgique, d'Allemagne mais aussi de Roumanie, d'Arménie ou encore d'Israël… et tous se sont sentis particulièrement bouleversés par le thème. Certains avaient déjà un travail qui trouvait sa pleine expression dans le sujet proposé, d'autres ont créé spécialement. A leur côté, des collectionneurs passionnés qui nous font la grâce d'offrir en partage des objets anciens lentement collectés… Et alors agit la magie de la rencontre !

Inaugurata a marzo, durante la settimana del gioiello contemporaneo Schmuck a Monaco, l'esposizione presenta i lavori di

Ad ingresso gratuito, Influences, Chi siamo ora? presenta 40 gioielli e nasce dall'esigenza degli artisti del gioiello di esprimere, attraverso la loro arte, le sensazioni suscitate dagli ambienti di vita, dai luoghi, l'influenza dell'ambiente che li circonda. Il concetto alla base di questa esposizione è quello di “genius loci”, inteso come interazione tra identità e luogo.

“La città, l'ambiente e il paesaggio circostante in cui si vive, influenzano inevitabilmente il nostro agire e il nostro essere - spiega la curatrice Claudia Steiner - il lavoro dell'artista che vive e lavora in città, può essere influenzato consciamente o inconsciamente. Ispirazioni e idee sono reinterpretate attraverso l'elezione di forme, colori, materiali e tecniche scelte - prosegue Steiner - e il lavoro degli artisti partecipanti, ciascuno proveniente da città geograficamente e scenograficamente diverse, riflette queste condizioni variabili”.

Dopo la tappa livornese l'esposizione proseguirà a Firenze, a giugno, alla galleria Takirai Design (Via Giano della Bella, 20/1). I primi di ottobre si sposterà a Barcellona alla 66 Mistrall ed infine, a ottobre rientrerà in Italia, dove concluderà il suo ciclo espositivo in un'altra sede.

East Meets West — Exquisite Treasures from the Aga Khan Collection

Since classical antiquity, the mutual fascination between the Orient and
the Occident has repeatedly brought about new art forms. In the Art Deco

period, for example, exotic ornamental designs and calligraphies from Chi-
na, Japan or the Middle East lent themselves perfectly to fulfilling people's

desire for decorative and unusual luxury. Also, the 1920s were characterized
by technological progress and rapid societal changes, both of which were

reflected in the jewellery and the arts of that era in the shape of exuber-
antly exotic ornamentation and colours, wedded to clear-cut shapes and

austere materials. The vanity and cigarette cases, clocks and watches, plus
the pieces of jewellery, from the Prince and Princess Sadruddin Aga Khan
Collection bear eloquent witness to this. The collection originated when,

one Christmas, the Prince gave his wife a superbly ornamented case by Car-
tier as a gift. This was the beginning of what evolved into a comprehensive

collection comprising creations by Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, Boucheron,

Lacloche Frères and the selfsame Cartier company, all of which evoke associ-
ations with glamorous dinner parties in exotically decorated apartments or

smoky night clubs.
A magnificent book about the collection was published in New York in 2017
under the title of »Jeweled Splendors of the Art Deco Era. The Prince and
Princess Dadruddin Aga Khan Collection«.

With the support of the City of Castel San Giovanni (Piacenza, Italy) and the collaboration of AGC Associazione Gioiello Contemporaneo, LAO Le Arti Orafe Jewellery School – Firenze, Charon Kransen Arts, Joya International Art Jewellery Fair, Klimt02 network, this international studio jewelry competition has become a relevant happening for the cultural environment and the community of arts in Val Tidone, every year by exploring an international vision more and more accredited and widening to the passionate and researchers for contemporary experimental jewellery.

Starting from the landscapes of Italy in the wine-making region of Emilia hills, enjoying positive and inspiring environments, it opens its borders involving established and emerging artists from every country to express their relation with this particular context. Contemporary jewellery here may be seen as a “fermenting” creative process: the challenge is to turn natural and available elements into something precious and unique.

A great attention is payed to the student sections, involving institutes for art education based all over the world which would offer an interesting view to younger students and undergraduates looking for further in/depth experiences (learning and master degree sections).

"MIGRANTES" is a project of Contemporary Jewelry that addresses this theme in the present context. Working from different approaches, but with a common goal, four designers (two chileans, an argentine and an uruguayan) unite to put together this exhibition, telling from their own spirit, their vision of migrating: the movements that animals have had to do, due to the disaster of the environment; the original peoples facing the conquering opressors; the experience of living in a country where you have not been born and to which you emigrate. The exhibition refers to the new migrants and how we must talk of equality of rights and opportunities.

Attention is a shape.
A contemporary dialogue on feeling, making, observing — in depth.


The contemporary jewellery exhibition "L'attenzione è una forma/Attention is a shape” will open next Friday, June 1st at 6.30pm at the Ipazzi Factory gallery in Pisa.

The exhibit is conceived as a journey into the discovery of the works of nine contemporary jewellers led by the suggestions coming from the poetry of Paola Loreto.

The concept is curated by Eliana Negroni, a designer who studies the multiple approaches of studio art-jewelry and is committed to a number of exhibition projects related to the Italian association for contemporary jewellery (AGC).

The purpose is to engage poetry as a parallel art, focusing on a key element: the idea of attention.

The poem “L'attenzione è una forma/Attention is a shape,” from the collection “case | spogliamenti” by Paola Loreto (Nino Aragno Editions, 2016), has been a way into all the tones and the emotional states connected with the creative process in contemporary jewellery.

Negroni studied the compositions by Paola Loreto, who is an Italian poet and American Literature professor at the University of Milan, and highlighted a series of extraordinarily intense fragments that would guide the investigation of the jewellery works – among them, the works by Stenia Scarselli, a resident artist at the gallery, together with an accurate selection of works by international jewellers:
Clara Del Papa, who was born in Venezuela and lives in Italy; Fabiana Gadano, from Argentina; Jamie Chung and Joo Hyung Park, from S. Korea; Helmi Lindblom and Wiebke Pandikow, from Finland; Steffi Götze, from Germany; and Sergio Spivach and Stefano Spivach, who transform their Australian opals into unique pieces in their workshop in Udine, Italy.

The works are very different from one another, but they are all knit by a gentle thread: "the attention". It is the extreme care of each detail that becomes real emotion and rises from the work of the jewellers.

The gallery on-stage setting is curated by Stenia Scarselli together with the group Arte della Memoria, a cultural association which is at the core of Ipazzi Factory. The resulting artistic mix makes the exhibition a unique event in the multifaceted landscape of experimental jewellery.

Granulation – An intensive course on the craft of ancient joining techniques

The goal of the workshop is to teach the basic skills of ancient joining techniques and the strategies used to make artistic artefacts in the past with an eye on using these skills to design and fabricate contemporary objects. While the technique of granulation requires long-term repetition to develop proficiency and mastery, the basic skills and insights gathered during the course will prepare the participant to continue in autonomy.

David Loepp was born in 1951 and grew up in Wyoming. In 1969 he moved to Paris. Three years later he moved to Sicily where he apprenticed as a goldsmith and sculpture. Fascinated by ancient jewellery, he worked primarily with the exponents of “archeo-gioielleria” in Messina and Rome where he opened a workshop in 1996. He has worked in experimental archaeology for the past two decades in collaboration with the University of Rome la Sapienza, Italy's National Research Council and the Antiquitates Center for Experimental Archaeology in Civitella Cesa.
Long-term projects in experimental archeology include:
The refining of gold and thermodynamic characterization of the process based on evidence from Sardis and the interpretation of textual sources;
Characterization of the color phenomena of shakudo;
Ancient strategies for the reduction of chalcopyrite ores and the winning of copper;
Joining methods in antiquity.

For each course, the school suggests the level of preparation needed to achieve maximum results. Teachers and instructors will not be able to spend extra time with students who do not have the indicated skills level.

Advanced: courses suitable only for people in possession of professional requirements or at least three-year studies.

For the participation to the workshop with David Loepp, please note as follow:

Familiarity with the blow pipe torch and/or blowpipe;
Basic knowledge of metallurgy, notably the properties of metals and the preparation of alloys.

They hold together, connect, link, merge as well as they control, check and supervise.
We play with the image on different levels: In a technical, and philosophical way.
Bridges are the result of human efforts to relate and connect two topographic locations permanently said Georg Simmel in "Bridge and Door". I would like to include fixed installed draw- or swing bridges and skywalks, balconies and stairs as well.
In addition, ladders are interesting for our considerations even if they are only temporary bridges. Just because of that reason, they come very close to the character of brooches.
Brooches in their original function as fibulas are connecting different parts of textiles and have a temporary character. You can fix and remove them easily. In this case, the connected textiles separate themselves and the brooch gets the character of an independent object.

In the workshop we approach the topic from different directions:
1) Bridges as an idea and creative template for brooches. Everyone brings the idea of his/her favourite bridge. Spontaneous models will be made with the limited material, drawings, sketches.
2) We investigate connections as temporary attachments between different materials or objects. Experiments with the mechanism of fastenings. Examination of relevant connections in everyday objects.
3) Design of a brooch with an integrated fastening as a part of the independent brooch object. We study traditional craftsmen mechanisms and explore extraordinary solutions.


About Tasso Mattar:
Studied sociology at the University of Cologne (1969-75) and jewellery design at the University of Applied Arts at Pforzheim (1975-79). He was well noted for his thematic exhibitions. We remember his bone exhibition " jewellery in a butchers " 1986, which became a legendary jewellery event. This presentation of the "precious" in the "trivial world" is a model of Mattar's special aesthetical approach which includes everyday objects as well as everyday life. His artwork from bone, concrete, soapstone, amber, granite etc. are collected by museums and private collections. He directed workshops in Singapore, Israel, Finland, France, Switzerland, Germany and Luxembourg. He lives and works in Artà/Mallorca, a small village in Spain.

- The candidate must pay 50% of the total amount at the time of enrolment. Enrolment is complete only after proof of first payment is received.
- Registration for two or more courses: please, pay in full the registration fee for the chosen courses (50% of the fee for each course). - The secretariat will make a 5% discount on the second course, and 10% on the third course, when the balance will be paid.

Cancellation Policy
In order to receive the 50% reimbursement, a registered letter must be received by this office 30 days prior to the beginning of the course. Bank or postal fees are not included in reimbursement. No refunds will be given without 30 day notice.

Cancellation by the school or teacher.
In case of cancellation, the school will immediately refund the amount paid, at no cost for the students.
In the documentation to be sent to the secretariat, please also include your bank details.

Conditions
For those who need to learn how to use the pipe torch and have basic information on the preparation of gold alloys, the school can organize a day of training and lessons.

Entry Level:
Intermediate: if you already have skills, these courses will be useful for your next step towards a more independent practice.

Language:
English, German, Spanish.

Participants:
Maximum 12 people.

Materials and tools:
The school provides (included in fee) all the useful big tool for collective use. School also provide non-precious metal, silver soldering, semi-finished products.
Pure silver and 925 in sheet and wire, are available to the student, but are not included in the participant's fee. At the end of the workshop, the students will reimburse the cost of the used metal to the school.
Students for practical courses and workshops should bring their own tools (tongs, files, bow and blade, sandpaper, welding clamps, all instruments for design, and anything else considered useful).
To have a detailed list of tools needed for the courses you are enrolled, please contact the school office.
In town, there are shops where you can buy tools and metals needed for the course.
The school can provide a toolkit for people who cannot bring their own tools.
A security deposit of 200 Euros will be paid by the arrival and will be refunded at the end of the seminar, after the return of the full kit.
Damaged or broken tools will be reimbursed to the school.

KORU6 is an international contemporary jewellery triennal organized for the sixth time. The main purpose of the event is to present widely international contemporary jewellery and bring together the artists, lecturers, researchers and people with interest in contemporary jewellery to take part in exhibition, seminar and workshops!

The exhibition will be open at Imatra Art Museum from 20th of August to 15th of September 2018. This time 12 talented jewellery artist were invited to take part of the exhibition. Each of them was asked to invite two interesting artist from their own country to join in the exhibition. In total there will be works of 39 artists from 12 countries.

fusion techniques.
Fire, water and soil are the elements and the instruments required to
construct simple and complex forms, as well as to reproduce objects and
transform them into new creations.

Program:
Construction of the necessary equipment in order to realize fusions with
either soil or water.
Introduction to different silver, copper and gold alloys including
schibuichi and shakudo
Experimenting different types of direct metal castings with stones.
Finishing of one or more pieces.
